with the DX, there was a greater sense of ease, of you-know-whatability to
the imaging, of involvement with the overall sound. And that's what
it's all about, even without taking into consideration the DX's ease of
setup and use. Highly recommended. I said highly.

Conclusion
My frugal persona wants to say that, at one-eighth the price, my plain-Jane
Mac mini was fully competitive in sound quality with the Antipodes DX
Reference. But it wasn't. My audiophile persona felt that, with the DX,
there was a greater sense of ease, of you-know-whatability to the imaging,
of involvement with the overall sound. And that's what it's all
about, even without taking into consideration the DX's ease of setup and

Description - DS
The DS uses the same core
server technology as the DX, and so is similarly open,
dynamic and musically expressive.
The DS achieves a lower entry price point than the DX mainly
by using customized 2.5" (laptop) spinning drives, and an
innovative new switching/linear power supply (fully linear
regulated output).
The innovations in the new 3rd generation DS dramatically
reduce the noise floor compared to all previous DS models,
eliminating digital glare and grain, for a huge gain in
musical expression.

Here's
what one reviewer said about the DS:
"Fence sitters who complain of
paucity of emotional involvement
with digital when crossing over from
vinyl might find the DS Reference a
solid baseline from which to fork
their journey into digital. The
significant sonic delta between
ameliorated consumer-grade computer
and DS Reference makes intuitive
sense. The former can be tricked out
with external bits and bobs in a bid
to correct jitter after the digital
audio horse has already bolted – but
it won’t match Antipodes
performance. The latter runs a
custom power supply,
firmware-tweaked hard drive and
heavily customized operating system
to ensure after-market correction
isn’t as necessary. Its physicality
might not be as slick as offerings
from Aurender or Lumin but the
Antipodes has CD ripping and wired
control on its side. Moreover the DS
Reference sets a new standard in
digital audio transports by which
all others will be judged. Game on!"

We
have a new Antipodes DS music server
in our showroom. I've been
busily loading music into it while
listening to its high quality
streaming of music from around the
world. The 1 TB version
($2,700) holds about 1,500 CDs
recorded in uncompressed FLAC
format. The sound quality is
exceptional. Come on in and
give it a listen.

Introducing the greatest little speaker
you'll ever hear:
The
all new NOLA Brio and Brio Trio (Brio
with the Brio Subwoofer)
We
have the new Brio in our showroom now!!!
The all new Brio speakers
were a tremendous hit at this year's CES
show. These small speakers produce
a realism that you just don't find even
in speakers many times their modest
price. You've got to hear them.
Really.
Notes from CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) earlier in January 2016:Chris Martins, publisher of Hi Fi Plus magazine wrote:
by Chris Martens | Jan 18, 2016
Nola Brio Trio, $2,700/three-piece system
"...
Nola design chief Carl Marchisotto is perhaps best know for his costly and physically imposing tower-type loudspeakers, but a passion of his has long been to bring the famous Nola sound to a much wider audience through a compact, scaled-back (but pointedly not scaled ‘down’), and accessibly-priced speaker system. That system turn out to be the new three-piece, satellite/subwoofer Brio Trio system, which consists of a pair of 5.5-inch x 5.5-inch x 12-inch, 1 ˝ -way, quasi-dipolar satellite speakers and a matching Brio subwoofer with an 8-inch woofer, a sealed enclosure, and a 250-watt Class A/B (not Class D) amplifier. The result is very simple and affordable three-piece system that, in due Nola fashion, sounds much more muscular, expansive, and musically evocative than it has any right to do for its size or price."More of Carl's notes while at CES:
"Hi Fi Plus magazine (UK) writing about 10 Fascinating speakers at CES, places the Brio Trio System in the same category as speakers costing $26,000! This is TEN times the price of the $2700 Brio Trio! Cool!"
"Yesterday we had the Brio Trio system up. No one could believe the sound quality achieved at a price of $2700 including powered subwoofer. Comments that there was no gap between the Sub and the satellites was common. Many stated it was the most transparent they had ever heard! Easily filled the large room. Many enjoyed the sound even 90 degrees Off Axis.! Truly unique."
"Listening to film sound on the Brio Trio was quite interesting to me.
There is a 3 dimensionality about images that sets this system apart . It did remind me of Grand Reference In that regard.
Dynamics were startling. During the "bow and arrow" sequence from the film Robin Hood, I felt I had to duck-it was that real.
Combined with the expansive soundstage, subtle nuance, massive attack , the system is both convincing and entertaining.
Listening to a 3 hr movie without fatigue is a done deal."
